Kereita Forest is a natural forest located few kilometers from Kimende town, Kiambu county. It is in the southern part of the aberdares ranges. Kereita forest is unexploited by human therefore it retains its serene and pristine condition. The forest is said to have medicinal trees, more than 200 bird species and was regarded to as the white Highlands for the white settlers.
A trail into the forest leads to a waterfall, an elephant pool, maumau mass graves and the maumau caves as well.
